How To Care For Large Indoor Bamboo Plant

The Banana Bamboo loves a moist soil. Before watering, allow 1″ to 2″ of the top soil to dry. Then, it’s time to water! If you’re ever wondering about water levels, why not use a soil & light combi tester?

The Ficus Alii loves to be in a bright room out of direct sunlight. So, be sure to put it in a living room or bedroom with a South-facing window. To ensure the leaves never droop on your Banana Bamboo, be sure to turn your plant round every couple of days. This plant will not tolerate low light conditions.

This large indoor bamboo plant loves a good misting every now and again. Be sure to use one of our plant misters! This will help to replicate the wet conditions of the tropical jungle

As this plant is used to living in a wetter part of the world, it is definitely worth investing in some vermiculite. This will help to ensure that your plant will receive an even amount of water.

During the growing season, this plant will love to be fertilised once a month. Be sure to use a well balanced houseplant fertiliser like Baby Bio Houseplant Fertiliser.

If using fertiliser is new to you, read our “How to Fertilise Your Houseplant” page!

The Banana Bamboo is quite resistant to most of the pests and diseases you may encounter. However, you may want to keep an eye out for the occasional infestation of Scales and Mealybugs. If an infestation occurs, quarantine your banana bamboo and treat it with plenty of neem oil.

If you think your plant is suffering from a pest or disease, take a look at our Pests and Infections page!

Repotting a large indoor bamboo plant is a fairly simple business. Check your indoor plant’s roots once a year. When they are visibly root-bound, then it is time to repot!

Wondering how to repot your houseplant? Take a look at our repotting guide. It has all the information you need!

About Large Indoor Bamboo Plant

Native to the tropical areas of India and China, this large indoor bamboo plant  is quickly becoming one of the most popular buys on the houseplant market. It’s a striking indoor houseplant that is evergreen and will look beautiful all year round.

Natural Showstopper

This houseplant has beautiful narrow leaves that clump together to form and bold and bright foliage. This large indoor bamboo plant will look best as a natural showstopper in your living room or bedroom. The large bamboo plant is definitely a plant to have on display!

At 50-70cm tall, this indoor houseplant is going to look great on the floor, or a sideboard/table. We’ll let you decide how to have it in your home!

As this plant draws attention to the eye, we would recommend pairing this plant with more of a “refined” or “sleek” looking pot. Why not try a glossy ceramic pot (curved) in a colour like black or white?

Air Purifying Plant

Did you know that the large indoor bamboo plant is also air purifying? Although it isn’t on NASA’s clean air study,  bamboo helps to remove toxins such as formaldehyde and benzene from the air.

So, if you’re looking to breathe a little easier you should definitely invest in a large indoor bamboo plant!

Is this product not for you? Not to worry! Take a look at our (almost) Unkillable plants and our Best Large Houseplants pages.

Please note: this plant comes in a plastic nursery pot. Browse our entire range of plant pots to add that extra charm and character to your home.
